Construction Bidding System

An asphalt paving company has several full-time employees who estimate and bid paving jobs. These include small driveways and parking lots up to large-scale state highway paving jobs. The difficulty came about from costing the various sizes of crews and equipment required in conjunction with the various types materials to be used.

I produced a system that allowed them to formulate standardized combinations of crews and equipment for different types of jobs, then produce a bid by selecting crews, equipment and materials plus subcontractors. The system resulted in more accurate bids, fewer mistakes and less money left on the table, plus competitive tracking to maintain their edge. The company used this system for many years, despite attempts to find a packaged solution that could come close to meeting its functionality.
